Lazy Dayz

Well while I am currently on hold, now counting 17 minutes and 34 seco 35, 36, 37...so you get the point, I might as well post about my weekend.

It was a good one. We did some things and then absolutely did nothing at other times! Those can be the best weekends where you just don't do a damn thing!

On Saturday Va-Va and I decided to head out and do some major garage saling. We hit about 10 or more of them including a antique sale in which every 5 seconds one of us said, "I want this" or "this is freaking cool" or "My grandma has one of these" or just plain, "wow!" We also met Grandma Duck, from her I got a camping grill thing for $1.00 it was a steal. All it needs is a little bit of cleaning and some propane and I am set to go. Unfortunately, I arrived about 5 minutes too late to buy her tent. Grandma Duck was great and I am completely pissed at myself for not bringing my digital camera with me that day! She was wearing this t-shirt that said Hot for Slots! It was great, she also told us all about how she won the Twist contest and how she had to dance with Chubby Checker. Then she had to take us inside to see her picture with him and her newly re-done kitchen, oh and of course her pictures of Elvis! She was sooo cute and funny, she even invited us to her Luau in a few weeks.

Oh at another garage sale this lady had obvously robbed a tupperware party and got away will a gajillion dollars worth of the stuff. She also had all sorts of shampoos and hair die and just some weird shit!

Then we found ourselves wandering around St. Paul and Summit St. where all the huge houses where. They were soo beautiful and just different looking. In a good way, just different from the 'rich' houses in Florida. We also took a gander inside the St. Paul Cathderal. It was very big and very pretty! Next time we'll spend more time in it.

On Saturday and Sunday, we pretty much lounged out and decided to rent cheesy girly movies. Ones that we wouldn't have gotten away with unscathed if Stiggy were around. Although he probably would have watched them with us, we would have probably taken a razzing afterwards on the account of the cheese factor. We rented A Cinderella Story and Mean Girls. Sadly enough I enjoyed them both! A girl can dream for a prince charming can't she! Mean Girls I watched all up until the last 20 minutes on Monday because we had to go out to catch the fireworks.

Monday night we went to see the Memorial Day fireworks on the river in St. Paul. I managed to leave behind my digital camera, but did snap a few shots with my camera phone so I will post them now.

Perks of the job

Well I've only been working here for a week and four days, but I've come to like the perks we have. I mean you would think a Government position would be all serious and no fun, but the people here like to make work as pleasant as possible. So I am going to list a few perks that have perked my senses and should make you all jealous.
  1. Soda Fridge: There is a fridge in one of the break rooms that is filled shelf to shelf with all kinds of soda, pretty much anything you can think of. Its the honesty policy, but all you have to do is drop in 50 cents and grab a pop. The money goes to our holiday party at the end of the year.
  2. IceCream freezer: The freezer section of the Soda Fridge is full of icecream treats and bars.
  3. Jeans Friday: A common thing in lots of offices, but you would figure that you couldn't get away with that with the government
  4. Bus fare reimbursement: They give me money not to drive!
  5. Book Sales: Again, just a nice thing, that helps fund the holiday party
  6. Meditation Session: Its sometime next week, I'll let you know how it goes. Its part of diversity week.
  7. Diversity Week: Each section picks a country and does research and brings in food
  8. sponsored Walks: Company walks during work hours
  9. Gym Discount: I think its like 25 bucks per month, not too shabby
  10. Paid Holidays!!!!

So there you have it, I'm sure there will be more events and other fun things to come! It will give me something to blog about!

Bus Tales Part 1

So yesterday on the way in to work on le bus there was a lady sitting across from me. Of course you give people a casual nod or a "mornin" and then kinda keep to yourself. Well not this one, she was a talker! I am usually down for having conversations with strangers on the bus, but I noticed myself just saying mhumm, yeah, and or wow..having no idea what she was saying. Yes this was rude of me, but it wasn't all my fault. Yes I was distracted, but I also couldn't really hear a word she was saying.

A couple of stops later the bus picks up a few usuals. She then encludes them into the conversation. So then I am wondering if anyone else can hear a damn word she is saying so again i'm not listening and even more distracted. So basically from what I could here was that she threated someone with a bat, her kids are trouble makers, and her daughters ex boyfriend totalled her car and that is why she is riding the bus.

So on the way home from work, on of the regulars hops on. We strike up a bit of a conversation about average things until I just can't help but ask, "did you have any idea what that lady was saying on the bus this morning?" Regular said, "I had no idea what she was talking about, I was just doing what you were doing!!" hahahaha

Crazy people ride the bus and I'm one of 'em

Long Time comming

I have neglected my blog for far to long!

Ok so I started work last week and have been wipped out every night by the time I get home. So far my job its good. I've had to read a whole lot and my training has been delayed a bit because the woman I am supposed to be shadowing has called in sick the last three days and she has annual leave for Thursday and Friday! SO I am pretty much sitting here reading manuals and surfing the net. So I've decieded that since I have time to come back to my blog!

During the last two weeks (well week and a half) of work I've realized how much I am really starting to love downtown Minneapolis! I've just been eating my sandwich at my desk and then go to walk around outside for a half an hour! On Thursdays there is a Farmers Market up and down Nicollete Street. Last week I bought grapes and strawberries. This week I think I am going to pick up some more strawberries for sure and maybe some bananas or cheese! I don't know its up in the air till I get down there!

So far so good though with the job! People seem nice too!

A Bit of a Break from Blogging

Well I was forced into a break from blogging for a few days because my computer had a complete meltdown! So I was forced to backup and reinstall everything. So when I did that it turns out that I didn't pack my wireless card's installation CD..gah! So anywho I am back up and running, but sadly attached to a wall. Its funny how when you can't blog you come up with several fantastical ideas to blog about. I mean ideas that can change the world, but when you get back connected and sit down at your computer, the ideas are gone! So of course you sit there thinking that they will come back, but no they don't. Then you end up settling on blogging about your computer troubles and the fact that you could have possible made the best blog post in the world, but by the time you got everything fix it was gone.

Something to drain your minds!

Ok so maybe its just me, but when I am having a boring day I sometimes pop over to google and do image searches. Of course you never know what you are going to find with the safesearch mode turned off, but thats something completely different. Today I found the perfect game for the google nerds out there like me. Its called Guess-the-Google. It shows you a group of images and you have to guess the search word. Its addicting!

Have fun kiddies!

Lack of Burden

Through blog surfing and seeing many of the away messages of my friends it seems like the semester has either ended or that they are in the middle of finals. First off I would like to congradulate some of my friends on their graduations! It feels good doesn't it! As for the rest of you poor souls that have a few semesters left, live it up while you can!

It is sooo nice not to have to worry about finals or papers or any of the other stresses of college, but then again there are things that I miss terrible from the lifestyle. I miss being in the same town with all my friends and just having them close. In college there really arn't any worries except for whether or not to spend your money on groceries or beer. Or whether or not to skip a class because you would rather sleep or go to the beach.

I love knowing that in college its not just about what you learn in classes its what you learn outside of them. You learn to balance your life, make decisions for yourself, you of course make mistakes, but you also find out who you really are. I'm not saying that when you are finished you've got it all figured out but it does help being there.

I don't know where this was going, but anywho..I miss the college life.

Why Why Why

Is my brain so freaking retarded!!! I am trying to cook some chicken pot pies for the roomies and I to have for lunch. So what do I do, I look for a cookie sheet, can't find the one I want so I grab the other one. When the oven gets hot I open the door to put them in, only to find the original cookie sheet that I wa s looking for. So I take that one out and put the pot pies on it. I place the other cookie sheet on the other counter and then grab the other HOT fucking sheet with my fingers! I freaking knew that it was hot..Grrr!

I keep forgetting

How nice people are up here. I mean in Florida people would freak out if you are standing in line and just talked to them. Today I was in a bit of a rush otherwise I would have induldge the kind lady further! I mean it looked like it was about to storm, and now after about 20 minutes its started to storm, so I guess she was right. Who needs a weatherman when you have the lady at the post office!

Plane Conversations

Well if you've ever flown in an airplane by yourself then you know what I am talking about! You get to your row, there is no one sitting there and you get in and get settled and hope and pray that no one sits next to you. So you are watching people board the plane and *shit* you've made eye contact! That person then stumbles down the row that is made for anorexic people with no carry ons and reaches your row. Luckily you are in seat F, by the window and they are in seat A on the other side. So you then continue to look around and start to get comfortable and confident that no one will be seated next to you. Then you look up sure enough *bam* eye contact again and this time you know you've been beat!

So two girls end up sitting in your row. Both have two carry on bags that take what seems to be a life time to get in the over head compartment and its evident on the peoples faces standing in line behind them. So they get in and the giggling ensues! You think well shit....I can either sit here and be annoyed or I can try and strike up some awkward conversation with them so at least I can participate in the annoyance of people around me. So you find out they are on vacation from New York, they tell you stories about the trip, you tell them where they should have gone in Miami if they wanted to see a real party, they wish they had you as a tour guide ect ect. This was my flight back from Ft. Lauderdale to Wisconsin. I recommended the cookies that was at least a fun one.

The trip from Wisconsin to Minneapolis was thank god only an hour long flight because the guy who sat next to me was wasted and smelt like it. I mean it was slightly intrusive polite conversation. He grabbed my book out of my hand and read the back and when finished reading he gave me a look as if it were not up to his sophisticated taste! Thank god as soon as we were in the air he snoozed off for the rest of the flight, but then I was left battling his nasty boozed up breath!

On the way from Wisconsin to Ft. Lauderdale I had the row all to myself. There was this couple sitting in the double seat on the other side they were elbowing each other and having trouble settling in so I offered if one of them would like to come sit with me. So the Gentleman was on the aisle so he came on over. Not and old person, but not young either, but he wasn't elderly. So we had a little chat. He told me some war stories and about his plans for his vacation. It was a lovely chat it was the perfect length and also interesting and not awkward. Then he dove into his book and I doozed off.

So there are interesting characters on planes. If you are there for a few hours its nice to say a few words to each other so as not to seem snobbish, but also not too many to seem probing.

I could go into how they lost my luggage or how Midwest Airlines has delicious 'baked on board cookies' but that is a whole other post!

Note to the Roomies 2

Is there a particular reason that there are sexy nylons in the multi-purpose drawer in the kitchen? I mean I knew you two were going to sex it up everywhere in the apartment while I was gone, but the kitchen!!! What other little secrets am I going to find?!?!

Welcome to the Note to the Roomies series. Where I pose questions or random thoughts that may arise when living with a couple.

Welcome to the Dark Side!

Wedding Bliss

Well I wanted to write a pre-wedding post to get everyone up to speed with my pre-wedding predictions. But that didn't happen. So the wedding and activities there in went over pretty well. I thought that there was going to be a serious rumble at the wedding seeing as how the tension at the rehearsal was so thick you could choke! I mean I wanted to see some of this action happening:

or this:

I really wanted to test out my Kill Bill moves on this bitch Aimee, but it was my good friends wedding and I was the 'Regulator' so I just smiled and pissed her off with kindness....and bitchy looks!

So that was one sort of drama, the next was having to deal with my cry baby of an ex boyfriend! The one who pretty much stalked me for a while after dating. He was fine in the beginning and then was trying to drink a lot to show off and then he just couldn't hold his feelings back, "why did you dump me?" Booohoooo...It has been over two years! Good god get a hold of yourself man! Is it bad that I really wanted to laugh at him?

But all in all it was the ring bearer that stole the show! He was running late because of traffic and then the lady from the yacht club rushed him in line to walk down the isle. So we are all standing there and Chris keeps looking down and then the ring bearer walked off. After the service we found out why the poor little guy wet himself! Chris then said, "I was wondering where all that water was coming from!" haha!

Note: While looking up pictures for this post on Google without the Safesearch on has burned my eyes with unimaginable images. I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight! Do not seach for; girl fights, pee puddle, or anything else that has to do with pee...*shivers*
